How It Works

Three steps to sovereign education.

The mechanics, plain. You set the rules. METHEAN proposes. You approve. The system records. Mastery builds.

/ 01 · Set the rules

Encode your authority once.

Choose your educational philosophy. Define content boundaries. Set how much the AI may suggest. METHEAN converts your decisions into constitutional rules that govern every recommendation forever after.

/ 02 · AI proposes

Recommendations enter your queue.

The AI drafts weekly plans, lessons, and activities tailored to each child. Nothing reaches your children until you approve it. Adjust any item in one click. Reject anything in one click.

/ 03 · Mastery accumulates

The record builds itself.

Every completed activity feeds mastery tracking, retention scheduling, and the records your state requires. Years from now you will still have a complete audit trail of every decision made.

The Three Principles

Written before a single line of code.

Three commitments encoded into the architecture itself. Not features, not settings. Load-bearing structure that cannot be overridden.

I.

Parents govern. AI serves.

Every AI recommendation routes through household authority before reaching the child. The system cannot write to learner state on its own. Your authority is the foundation, not a setting.

The AI cannot write to learner state. No path exists around the gate.

II.

Every decision is auditable.

Every rule, every recommendation, every override is logged immutably. Years from now, you will still be able to answer the question, why did my child learn this and not that.

III.

Your data stays in your household.

We never sell data. We never use child data for advertising. Your family's information is yours alone, exportable at any moment, deletable on demand. Infrastructure, not surveillance.

A Letter from the Founders

Why we built METHEAN.

To the family considering this work,

We teach our own children at home. Some weeks that goes well. Other nights we have sat at the kitchen table after everyone was asleep, looking at a curriculum that worked beautifully for one child and did nothing at all for another, wondering whether we were getting any of it right.

Every tool we tried treated us as users of somebody else's system. Somebody else decided what mattered, and our job was to keep up with it or work around it. That is backwards. The family is the school. Everything else should be working for the family.

So we built the thing we wanted. The AI does the part that is genuinely hard to carry alone. It plans the year. It keeps track of what stuck and what did not. It produces the records the state asks for. Then it stops and waits for us. Nothing reaches our children that we have not read first.

We tested every decision against one question. Would we use this with our own kids? Where the answer was no, we tore it out and did it again.

That is the whole reason it exists. The tools we wanted did not, so we made them.

The Curriculum Builder

Your year, drafted in minutes. Refined over years.

Thirty-six weeks of complete, philosophy-aware curriculum, generated for each subject and each child, then routed through your approval before it ever reaches their day. The library holds 2,526 hand-authored lessons, spanning kindergarten through college-level depth, written to a masterclass standard rather than thin, auto-generated filler.

I.

A full year, drafted at once.

Thirty-six weeks per subject. Daily activities Monday through Friday. Lesson, practice, review, and assessment cycles built in. Every sixth week, a review week. Generated to your family's philosophy and your child's current mastery, routed to you for approval.

II.

Bring the books you already own.

Sonlight, Saxon, Story of the World, My Father's World, Abeka, BJU, any of it. METHEAN ingests the table of contents and maps it into the mastery graph. You keep the curriculum you love. You add the tracking, governance, and compliance you never had.

III.

Your philosophy, in every lesson.

Pre-built scope and sequence for math, reading and literature, writing, science, history, and business, with classical, Charlotte Mason, Montessori, traditional, and unschooling/trade alignment baked into every topic. Generate long division for a classical family, get classical long division. Not generic content with a label.

The Business Curriculum

Business and entrepreneurship, through college level.

Most homeschool curricula stop at ‘run a lemonade stand.’ METHEAN runs from revenue and profit in middle school to three-statement financial models, DCF valuation, cap tables, and defending a fundable venture before a panel, the same material taught in top undergraduate business programs. 342 lessons. Three mastery tiers. Because the ability to create value will outlast any job title.

/ Middle school · Grades 6-8

The foundations, built by doing.

Revenue, cost, and profit computed from real receipts on a real venture. Pricing, customers, marketing on a budget, and a one-page business plan the child actually presents. 120 lessons.

/ High school · Grades 9-12

The real tools of business.

Financial statements, unit economics, contribution margin, customer acquisition cost, lifetime value, break-even, cash-flow forecasting, and go-to-market strategy, applied to one venture carried across the year. 110 lessons.

/ College level · Undergraduate depth

Where it stops being a class.

Three-statement financial modeling with scenarios. Discounted cash flow and comparable-company valuation. Cap tables with dilution and liquidation preference. Cost of capital and capital structure. Competitive strategy and growth loops. It ends with a complete, fundable venture the student designs, models, and defends under investor-grade questioning. 112 lessons.

Every number in every lesson is worked out and verified. A student who finishes this tier can build a financial model, value a company, read a term sheet, and defend a business plan to someone who does it for a living.

For Whom We Built It

Whatever your approach, METHEAN learns it.

One subscription. Many traditions. The system adapts to your conviction, not the other way around.

i.

The Classical Family

Trivium-anchored progression. Grammar, Logic, Rhetoric stages honored. Latin, Logic, and the Great Books folded into the weekly plan as first-class subjects.

ii.

The Charlotte Mason Family

Living books, short lessons, narration, nature study. The system respects pace, depth, and atmosphere, refusing to industrialize what is meant to be lived.

iii.

The Montessori Family

Self-directed work cycles. Materials-first sequencing. Three-year age windows. The platform tracks readiness, not grade.

iv.

The Traditional Family

Structured, textbook-driven, grade-anchored. Daily scope honored. METHEAN keeps the rigor and removes the planning burden.

v.

The Unschooling & Trade-Bound Family

Child-led inquiry alongside apprenticeship work. Authored trade curricula in HVAC, electrical, woodworking, and agriculture and gardening: study and low-hazard practice start today, and each hands-on hazardous competency unlocks as it clears qualified human safety review. Welding, plumbing, automotive, and culinary arrive in 2027. Certification milestones tracked alongside whatever the child is pursuing.

vi.

The Eclectic Family

Mix-and-match by conviction. Pull classical from one subject, Charlotte Mason from another, unschooling where it fits. The system blends the traditions you choose rather than forcing your whole household into one.

What Is Inside

Designed to be useful for a decade, not a quarter.

Parent Sovereignty

You set the boundaries the AI cannot cross. The system enforces them on every recommendation, every call, every output. Every decision is logged. Every override is recorded. Your authority is not a UI preference. It is encoded into the foundation of the platform, where it can never be removed without rewriting the system itself.

Your Philosophy

Classical, Charlotte Mason, Montessori, traditional, unschooling/trade, and eclectic. Every lesson respects your approach.

The Curriculum Builder

Thirty-six weeks of scope and sequence drafted for any subject, any child, any philosophy. Daily activities Mon to Fri. Review weeks built in. Your approval required before it ships.

All 51 Jurisdictions

Hour tracking, mastery records, and required documents, generated automatically.

Free Sibling Seats

One student's tuition; every sibling included at no charge. Each child tracked separately, all visible on one screen.

Mastery Over Memory

Every child gets their own spaced-repetition engine, FSRS, the algorithm behind serious memory software, tuned with 21 parameters per learner. The system knows what your child has mastered and brings a concept back the day before they would have forgotten it. Advancement is gated on demonstrated mastery, not on a calendar.

Trades & Apprenticeships

Authored today: HVAC, Electrical, Woodworking, Agriculture & Gardening. Study and low-hazard practice begin now; hands-on hazardous competencies unlock as each clears qualified human safety review. Certification milestones tracked alongside academic mastery.

Coming 2027 : Welding, Plumbing, Automotive, Culinary, Carpentry

Optional Child Tutor

An AI tutor your child can talk to, only if you turn it on. Always inside your rules.

Frequently Asked

Honest answers to honest questions.

Does METHEAN work in my state?
Yes. All fifty states and Washington DC are supported with automatic hour tracking, mastery records, and document generation matched to each state's homeschool requirements.
Can I keep using my current curriculum?
Yes. If you already use Sonlight, Saxon, Story of the World, My Father's World, Abeka, BJU, or any other curriculum, METHEAN ingests its table of contents, even from a photo of the contents page, and maps it into the mastery graph, complementing rather than replacing your materials.
How does the curriculum builder actually work?
You pick a subject and a child. METHEAN drafts a full thirty-six week scope and sequence, with three to five activities Monday through Friday, every sixth week designated a review week. The plan is tailored to your educational philosophy and to your child's current mastery profile. Nothing reaches your child until you approve the week. You can adjust any activity, swap any week, or override the entire plan at any time.
What ages does METHEAN support?
Kindergarten through college-level depth today: the corpus runs from kindergarten foundations to college-level mastery tiers. Pre-K and adult learner modes are on the near-term roadmap.
Will METHEAN work for my neurodivergent child?
METHEAN does not replace specialist evaluation, but the mastery-based progression removes the grade-level pressure that many families with dyslexic, ADHD, or gifted children find unhelpful. Your child moves at their own pace, in their own depth, on their own time.
How much screen time does METHEAN require?
As little as you want. Many families use METHEAN entirely as a parent-side planning and tracking tool, and their children never look at the screen. Other families enable the optional AI tutor for older kids. The choice is yours, every day, for every child.
Is my family's data private?
Yes. We never sell data. We never use child data for advertising. Your family's information stays in your household. Full export and deletion are available at any time.
Do I need to be technical to use it?
No. If you can send email and use a web browser, you can use METHEAN. Onboarding is guided. Support is available.
How many children does one subscription cover?
Every child in your household. The subscription is billed for one enrolled student, and every other child in the household is included at no additional cost on a free sibling seat. Your receipt itemizes it exactly that way: one student's tuition, and each sibling seat listed at $0.00. Scholarship and ESA parents: this is deliberate, so the receipt describes one student's subscription rather than a multi-user family plan.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Cancel anytime from your account settings. No questions, no fees, no retention pressure.
What about high school transcripts?
METHEAN generates high school transcripts on demand, tracks credit hours per subject, and exports records in standard formats accepted by colleges and universities.
School Choice Funding

Your state may already fund this.

Education savings accounts and school choice programs, stated plainly: what the programs cover, what METHEAN costs against one student's typical award, and exactly where METHEAN stands today.

The programs are real and broad.

More than 30 states operate a private school choice program, and 13 offer universal or near-universal education savings accounts. In most ESA states, eligible homeschool expenditure explicitly includes approved curriculum and required materials.

The price fits inside one award.

METHEAN's annual price is a single $1,499 line item that sits well under one student's typical award. Florida's program funds roughly $8,000 per student, and Arizona's runs around $7,000.

The receipt is built for the portal.

METHEAN issues an itemized receipt naming the enrolled student, with every sibling seat shown at $0.00, suitable for submission to a scholarship portal.

Where METHEAN stands today.

METHEAN is not yet an approved vendor in any state program. Confirm eligibility with your own program before you purchase, and expect reimbursement rules to vary by state.

One Price, Everything Included

One student's tuition. Every sibling free.

We refuse to nickel-and-dime homeschool families. Your subscription is billed for one enrolled student, and every sibling in the household is included at no charge: every subject, every feature, in every state.
